A poetic combination of simple walls and materials to address the long approach and 45-degree shift to views created the framework and underlying concept for the house plan and design. Privacy towards the drive and public hiking trail suggested more opaque walls while dramatic views demanded a more open response. As seen from the trail above, a grass roof separates primary forms to help the house blend into the landscape and reduce the overall scale.
